Welcome to Hellesdon High School, a popular and successful Community Technology College serving the north-west fringe of Norwich. Currently we have 1,250 students on roll, and over 300 in the Hellesdon-Taverham Sixth Form Centre.

Exam success… again!
For the second year running, HHS has enjoyed record examination results. In 2011, 84% of our students have achieved five or more GCSEs at grade A*-C, and 67% including English and maths. Our Sixth Form students also did extremely well, with an excellent average points score of 787. We are proud of all of our students’ achievements, which are a tribute to their hard work and that of their teachers.

Pastoral care
At Hellesdon, we take pride in knowing every child as an individual. Pastoral care is organized through Heads of Year, Tutors and Mentors, with all our staff playing a part. The School has a friendly atmosphere, and there is a well-publicized anti-bullying policy.

Sixth Form
At Sixth Form level, Hellesdon works in partnership with Taverham High School. The joint Sixth Form Centre offers a wide range of courses at AS, A2 and BTec.

Parents/Carers
The school enjoys the active support of the PTA and all of our parents and carers, who have access to the latest information about their children’s progress through the Learning Gateway (login required).

Community
Hellesdon High is a lively school with active links with the local community and our feeder primary schools; activities and courses for adults are also based at the School.

Sport
We offer a huge range of sporting activities to all students, including training in leadership skills, opportunities to take part in local leagues and competitions with other schools, and to enjoy many extracurricular clubs and activities. Our students campaigned to save School Sports Partnerships, which they felt had helped young people in our area to get into and benefit from sport.

A short history of Helmingham Church!
Rectors of Helmingham are recorded from as far back as AD 1307.
The advowson of the church was granted to the priory of Flixton by Geoffery de Creke in 1267. The flint tower was commissioned by John Tollemache in 1490 to celebrate his marriage to Elizabeth Joyce.
The tower is a fine example of the perpendicular style.
Thomas Aldrych, The master mason of North Lopham in Norfolk, carried out the work for the sum of £30.
The Tollemache Coat of Arms can be seen both inside and outsided the church.
The 15th century font is buttressed by lions sejant standing on human heads.
The oldest part of the present building is the North Door, now not used, which is in early English style, and can be dated anywhere between AD1190 and 1300.
The glorious peals of eight bells cast by Thomas Mears of london, was presented by Wilbraham Tollemache, 6th Earl of Dysart and High Steward of Ipswich in 1816 One hundred and thirty -five bell ringers attended and afterwards ‘partook of an excellent dinner provided by the Earl.
The church is filled with beautiful and magnificent memorials to various generations of the Tollemache family who own nearby Helmingham Hall. These were cleaned and reovated in 1976 in memory of John, the fourth Baron Tollemache, who died in 1975.
Therre are also two monuments by the famous sculptor Nollekens (1737-1823).
Repairs to the tower parapet and associated masonry were completed at the cost of £175.000. largely funded by English Heritage (£120.000) and the Suffolk Historic Churched Trust.
